Mobile Phones
Using a mobile phone behind the wheel may seem like a 'minor offence' and a waste of police time and resources giving out £100 fines and 3 points on your license. They also see it as a waste of their time, but have you ever seen the consequences?...Let me show you. Last year 420,000 tickets were given to car drivers, and 5,400 tickets were given to van drivers. 5,400 were given to HGV drivers 240,000 were given to bus/minibus/coach drivers. That's a total of 670800 tickets given out for using mobile phones while driving.
Alcohol & Drugs
Ever thought about drinking and driving, and that 1 wouldn't hurt? But it can. Statistically, you are 11 times more likely to crash while impaired. if those statistics aren't convincing enough, this might convince you.
Drink driving will wreck more lives than expected. for example in the picture above, an 18 year old male was driving the morning after he was drinking, and he was still drunk. In the white Seat were two off-duty police officers. The driver, a 38 year-old police woman was forced to quit her job after she sustained serious injury to her legs, but her passenger, a 49 year old police man managed to escape with minor injuries. The 18 year old driver of the Black Corsa was still double the legal drink-drive limit, and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
Mechanical Error
Although the police are aware that mechanical error is of no fault of the driver, to help prevent collisions, please check your vehicle on regular occasions. This Ford Fiesta's brakes were inactive at this point of impact, although evidence shows he pressed them. Fortunately, in this case on-one was injured, but in some cases, people are killed.
